In this multi-part, 5+ hour educational immersive, I delve deeply into the realm of self-portraiture while exploring mindset and perspective, deconstructing technique and approach, and speaking to my experience in real time from a place of heartfelt authenticity and genuine vulnerability. This is about far more than lighting and camera settings; it’s about emotion, expression, evolution, and, most importantly, connection with one’s self.
Ultimately, this immersive is a creative love letter to self-portraiture, which has brought me closer to myself, my art, and my creative process than I ever imagined possible. It’s also an expression of my love and gratitude for you, as I sincerely hope it serves as a catalyst for you to begin your journey into, or deepen your relationship with, the art, craft, and science of self-portraits.
We start with an intro exploring mindset and intention before moving on to three pillars through which we can explore the genre and express ourselves with fewer expectations, constraints, and bias: reflections & distortion, movement & form, and color & scene. We then take what we’ve created into Capture One and begin curating a collection and editing our selections, all while critically examining the portraits and imagery with objectivity, self-love, and gratitude. We finish with a chat about the experience and an ode to both the journey and humble beginnings.
