Mercy Ships brings hope and healing to the forgotten poor by mobilizing people and resources worldwide, and serving all people without regard for race, gender, or religion. They do this with a big, white, state-of-the-art hospital ship that delivers free life changing surgeries to those that have no access to healthcare. They also provide training local healthcare professionals to build capacity within the country.

About The Project

The money raised during this bundle event will purchase more equipment that we can use to capture our patient stories and to share with the world the impact that our free surgeries have on the lives of our precious patients! We will also use the equipment to engage others and to document medical conditions.

BOMA’s Rural Entrepreneur Access Project (REAP) is an innovative two-year poverty graduation program that provides a cash grant (seed capital to launch a business), sustained training in business skills and savings, and hands-on local mentoring by BOMA Village Mentors to business groups of three women.

About The Project

When the businesses are established and generating profits, typically at six months, Mentors work with REAP groups to form BOMA savings associations and work with each savings group for one year. Our program targets the poorest of the poor: When we begin working with them, 99 percent of BOMA entrepreneurs live on less than $2.50 per day (the poverty line), while 88 percent live on less than $1.25 per day (the extreme poverty line).

REAP helps women to build a pathway out of extreme poverty by addressing three elements that contribute to the cycle of aid dependency in the arid lands of Africa: low incomes, inconsistent cash flows and inadequate financial services for the rural poor. Profits from each REAP business provide a diversified income, while BOMA savings associations help women to manage cash flow (for daily needs), plan for future expenses (such as school fees and medical care), and respond to shocks (such as drought or family emergencies).

With a donation from 5DayDeal, we could be able to enroll 176 women (who support an average of 880 dependent children) in our two-year program of sequenced interventions including a cash grant to start a sustainable business, training and mentoring and a savings program.  The 176 women would “graduate” women out of extreme poverty so that they can feed and educate their children and build up savings for long term expenses and shocks such as drought.

The Exodus Road brings strategic solutions to the counter-trafficking movement. Their primary focus is to support interventions and rescues by providing covert gear, technology, resources and staff to support local authorities in freeing and caring for victims of modern slavery. Every human being, every child, deserves freedom.

About The Project

We are focused on empowering targeted interventions -- actual rescue operations from cases of "hard" trafficking with police. Whereas many anti-slavery organizations use the term "rescue" to mean different things, we specifically fuel rescues from legally recognized situations of trafficking, in support of local police.

In the last four years, our teams have supported the rescues of 678 individuals on three continents. While we do invest in prevention and after care projects, our main niche lies in fueling finding and helping to free those currently trapped in slavery. We have found that there are very few people actively looking for current slaves, and we are inspiring and equipping an army of people to do just that. Our motto is: Justice in the hands of the ordinary.

We believe that everyone has a role to play in abolition, and so we work hard to equip the "average" person to make a real difference. My husband and I founded the organization after my husband became a deputized undercover operative with the police in SE Asia. We were (are!) just average people who stumbled on the problem of trafficking while living here, so we are closely intimate with the "ordinary" nature of the abolitionists we are equipping. We also place a high value on the following: collaboration, empowerment of nationals, innovative technology solutions, and bringing donors to the "front lines" of the fight.

The Exodus Road helps find and free modern slaves. We specifically support police efforts in SE Asia, India, and the United States. Our main niche is in fueling undercover operatives in these countries to find and gather evidence of trafficking to deliver to trusted police partners. We also grant covert and cyberforensics gear to national police and investigators to empower raids, rescues, and arrests. We also lead a collaborative effort in SE Asia which hosts events and trainings which bring practitioners together for the sake of freedom. Our three mains goals are to: Empower Rescue, Equip Nationals, and Encourage Collaboration. Our mission statement: We help find and free slaves through strategic action with ordinary people.

Alabama, USA

Camp Smile-A-Mile’s mission is to provide year round challenging, unforgettable recreational and educational experiences for young cancer patients, their families as well as young adult survivors from Alabama at no cost. Our purpose is to provide these patients, families and survivors with avenues for fellowship, to help them cope with their disease, and to prepare them for life after cancer.

About The Project

The teenage years are a difficult and awkward time for anyone. Paving one’s way from childhood into young adulthood while developing a clear identity can be a challenge. This age is especially hard for those fighting cancer or coping with the effects of the disease. Many of these teens struggle to find their identity as either a cancer patient or survivor. Camp Smile-A-Mile provides supportive social outlets for teenagers with cancer. Whether the teen is on or off therapy, the support of other teens through Camp SAM becomes an extension of his or her immediate family. In addition to the camp session tailored for this age group, Camp SAM has created a trip for juniors and seniors in high school who have shown academic excellence, leadership and the desire to give back to their community. These participants will be surrounded by the fellowship of other teens going through similar experiences. They will lean on each other for support while experiencing the growth that comes with traveling to new places. This trip will help foster a sense of independence as these teens embark on young adulthood.

In 2015 & 2016, Camp Smile-A-Mile has taken a group of deserving juniors and seniors to Boston, Massachusetts. This trip has offered many educational components that these teens might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience because of their diagnosis or lack of financial means. A portion of the funds raised by the 5DayDeal will directly support future trips along with Camp Smile-A-Mile’s other year round programming.

Colorado Based, Helping Worldwide

The  5DayDeal Foundation exists to lend a helping hand to scientific, environmental, humanitarian and other charitable causes worldwide.  They do this via donations made possible by the purchases of 5DayDeal customers around the world.

About The Project

In 2014 5DayDeal launched with the mission to provide incredible value via limited time bundles to creatives worldwide while also giving back via a 10% donation of gross sales.

We have had the privilege to partner with so many amazing charities in huge ways with some receiving donations well into 6 figures per year and it has been amazing to see the impact and share that with our customers and partners who have made it possible.

With the 5DayDeal Foundation our mission is to help other charities who are not selected for our main charity partnerships due to such limited space there.  This will enable to us to support causes we believe in and have an impact on them even when they are not our main charity partners.
