Everything you need to know to get started in Landscape Photography and Editing
This course, led by John Weatherby, covers all the essential building blocks of outdoor and landscape photography. It begins with a deep dive into gear — including cameras, lenses, tripods, drones, filters, and other key accessories — to help students understand what they need and how to use it effectively. John also shares his process for planning successful shoots, from general trip preparation to researching conditions and scouting locations.
From there, students will learn how to take control of their camera settings. John breaks down the fundamentals of exposure, camera setup, and field techniques, followed by lessons in composition that explore how to scout scenes, identify visual elements, and approach each shot with a thoughtful, creative mindset.
The course concludes with an introduction to editing. John walks through his editing workflow using Lightroom and Photoshop, helping students get comfortable with the tools while also covering file backup, organization, and storage. By the end, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently plan, shoot, and edit their own photography projects.
